Man barricaded inside NW Jacksonville home surrenders peacefully

Police: Man fired several shots in Sherwood Forest neighborhood

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A standoff between a man who barricaded himself inside a Northwest Jacksonville home and the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office SWAT Team ended peacefully early Monday morning.

According to Lt. Mike Powers, the Sheriff's Office received a call around 8:21 p.m. about a man firing several gunshots outside a home at 52340 Roanoke Boulevard.

Lt. Powers said several people were inside the home, but were able to get out safely after the man went inside and refused to come out.

The SWAT team responded and began negotiating with the man.

After nearly five hours, police said the man was taken into custody at 1:15 a.m. without incident.

They did not release his name or say what charges he may be facing.
