PALM COAST, Fla. – A Palm Coast man was arrested Thursday after he pulled out a toy gun at an Advance America and told employees to fill a plastic container with "green stuff" as a joke, the Flagler County Sheriff's Office said.

Michael Carr, 59, is charged with robbery.

Deputies were called to investigate just before 5 p.m. at the business on Bell Terre Parkway after receiving a silent hold-up alarm.

Witnesses told deputies that a man wearing a trench coat entered the Advance America and stumbled over to a waiting area, where he emptied a plastic container that had pamphlets in it.

The man then walked over to the front counter, placed the empty plastic container on it, pulled out a silver handgun and ordered employees to fill the container with "green stuff," deputies said.

Employees then activated the silent hold-up alarm and that's when Carr said the gun was only a toy and he was only joking, according to the Sheriff's Office. But employees said they felt as if they were being robbed.

While standing at the counter, two customers entered the business and Carr concealed the toy gun in his trench coat, telling employees to help the customers and he would wait for them to finish, deputies said.

Deputies said they arrived shortly after and arrested Carr without incident. He was booked into the Flagler County Inmate Facility.
