UNION COUNTY, Fla. – Three people have serious injures after three vehicles were involved in a crash Friday morning in Union County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash was reported about 11:40 a.m. at West State Road 238 and Northwest County Road 245.

Troopers said a Volkswagon Passat was stopped southbound on Northwest C.R. 245 at the intersection of West S.R. 238.

A Dodge Caravan was traveling west on West S.R. 238 approaching the Passat. Troopers said the driver of the Passat pulled from the stop sign directly into the path of the Caravan.

The front of the Passat struck the right side of the Caravan, which sent the Caravan into the eastbound lane of West S.R. 238, troopers said. As the Caravan continued west, it struck a Chevy Impala head-on.

Troopers said the driver of the Impala was airlifted to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville with serious injuries. Both the driver and passenger of the Caravan were also taken by ambulance to UF Health in Gainesville with serious injuries, troopers said.

The driver of the Passat was not hurt and was cited for violation of right of way at a stop intersection, according to the  FHP incident report.
