Douglas Anderson Wind Symphony concert previews upcoming Chicago performance

High school's top band to perform next week at prestigious Midwest Clinic

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Douglas Anderson School of the Arts’ top band, the Wind Symphony, gave a concert Tuesday night, previewing the program that the band will perform next week at the Midwest Clinic in Chicago.

Students have been practicing and raising money since this spring to attend the music conference, which is considered one of the nation’s most prestigious gathering of music educators.

The Wind Symphony has also been awarded a $25,000 grant from the Jacksonville Children’s Commission, as well as a $500 grant from Concert on the Green.

The students will depart Monday for Chicago and the 70th annual conference will take place Dec. 14-17.
