FLEMING ISLAND, Fla. – The state fire marshal is investigating the cause of a house fire in Fleming Island, Wednesday morning.

Chief Battalion East with the Clay County Fire Department reports around 4 a.m., fire crews were called to a home on Pine Avenue just off U-S highway 17.

They found a one story home in flames. Firefighters managed to put it out, but the home was destroyed.

The owners weren't home at the time of the fire, so no one was hurt. However, the Red Cross is now assisting the man and woman who live in the home.
