JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville 16-year-old is facing attempted murder charges in connection with a shooting a month ago on St. Clair Street in the Paxon area.
Adrion Hill is expected in court at 9 a.m. Thursday. He is being tried as an adult.
His mother, Daphne Hill, said she and her son are both scared about what might happen as they go through the legal system. She said she has her doubts about his guilt, but that if he did it, then he should do the time.
Daphne Hill said she tried to prevent something like this from happening to her son.
“He goes to private school. He’s been doing good,” she said. “But it’s just the past summer he ended up hanging out with some boys, and he got caught up in some things.”
Hill said Adrion is easily influenced. That’s why she decided to send him to North Florida Educational Institute for a chance at something more than his Westside neighborhood could offer.
“If you check his record, he’s perfect,” Hill said. “This year, over the summer, this is when he got in trouble. It just went out of control. I don’t know if it’s because of the age of 16 or what. But it just, it’s sad. It hurts. It really does hurt.”
The arrest on three attempted murder charges is the only one News4Jax could find in a records check for Adrion Hill. The charges stem from a shooting that left three injured after what police said was an argument.
Daphne Hill said her son is scared and was crying on the phone with her. She said as she prepares for what’s next for her son that she will accept a fair outcome.
“I just want the truth. I just want my child, you understand, if he did it, let him do the time,” Hill said. “But I want them to prove it. I want to see evidence.”
