ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – The St. Johns County Emergency Operations Center cautioned residents Thursday about scam phone calls containing false information regarding Hurricane Matthew property damage assessments.

The reported scam phone calls have been automated messages from non-county phone numbers informing residents that St. Johns County staff will be conducting Hurricane Matthew damage assessments on private property.

St. Johns County officials want residents to be aware of the scam and to know that the county does not make direct phone calls to homeowners regarding Hurricane Matthew property damage assessments.

To report or confirm the validity of any phone call regarding Building Services, residents are asked to call 904-827-6800.
