Gov. Rick Scott orders U.S., state flags flown at half-staff

Order honors lives lost in Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport


TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – In the wake of the mass shooting at the Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Friday, Gov. Rick Scott released the following statement Saturday, ordering U.S. and state flags to be flown at half-staff at all government buildings: 

In honor and remembrance of the victims of the act of violence committed in Fort Lauderdale in the afternoon hours of January 6, 2017, I hereby direct the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff at all local and state buildings, installations, and grounds throughout the State of Florida. The flags shall be lowered immediately and remain at half-staff until sunset on Sunday, January 8, 2017.
