Deputies deliver baby in sheriff's office parking lot

Alachua County deputies were coached by phone Monday


GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Two deputies delivered a baby boy in the parking lot of the Alachua County Sheriff's Office Monday in Gainesville.

Deputies Chris Privette and Sam Caouette delivered John William Perry, with the assistance of Intermediate Telecommunicator Madeline Knight, who was coaching the two by phone, via the 911 line.

Fire rescue officials transported the mother and baby to the hospital where both are doing well and resting, the Alachua County Sheriff's Office said on Facebook.
