A Central Florida lawmaker on Wednesday proposed naming part of an Orange County expressway in honor of golfer Arnold Palmer, who died in September at age 87.

The bill, filed by Rep. Mike Miller, R-Winter Park, would name the portion of State Road 408 between Kirkman Road and Clarke Road as "Arnold Palmer Expressway."

The proposal (HB 225) will be considered during the legislative session that starts March 7.

Palmer long had a home in Orlando, and he helped raise money for the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in the city.
