Flagler Teacher, Employee of the Year announced

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – During an evening gala honoring the Flagler School District's teachers, advanced placement physics teacher Andrew Hutcheson and Flagler County Youth Center assistant director Brandon Seminara were named the Teacher and Employee of the Year, respectively, for 2017.

Hutcheson began teaching at Matanzas High School in August 2011.

"I educate students to be the creative problem-solvers we need in a 21st-century society," Hutcheson said.

Hutcheson incorporates online gaming into his lessons, saying it's an approach his students embrace.

Seminara began going to the Flagler County Youth Center in eighth grade, then started volunteering at Flagler Palm Coast High School after graduating. He was then hired as a computer technician for the district's technology team.

"As a former student and current employee, I truly believe in the mission of Flagler Schools, for they have provided me the tools necessary to be successful,” he said.
