Police: 5 teens arrested in Atlantic Beach crime spree

ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. – Five teenagers were arrested after a crime spree, the Atlantic Beach Police Department announced Tuesday.

Just before midnight on Sunday, officers responded to a burglary on Beachside Court.

When they arrived, police said, several black juveniles ran from a vehicle, which had been stolen in Jacksonville and contained several stolen items. A search then began.

Atlantic Beach officers were assisted in the search by Neptune Beach police officers as well as the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office's helicopter, patrols and K-9s.

Five teenagers, ages 14-16, from Jacksonville's Westside were later caught, police said.

According to police, the teenagers committed at least six burglaries to unlocked cars and open garages on Sunday night.

Investigators said they believe there were other people involved who were not caught.
