South Florida congressman to boycott inauguration

U.S. Rep. Alcee Hastings, D-Fla., said Tuesday he will boycott this week's inauguration of Republican President-elect Donald Trump, pointing in part to Trump's criticism of U.S. Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga.

"I have decided to boycott the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump and remain in my Congressional district in Florida," Hastings said in a prepared statement. "This decision is not a protest of the results of the Electoral College, but rather, an objection to the demagoguery that continues to define the incoming administration."

Trump and Lewis have sparred in recent days, with Lewis, a longtime civil-rights leader, saying he doesn't think Trump is a legitimate president.

Trump fired back on Twitter, in part saying Lewis is "All talk, talk, talk --- no action or results." The inauguration will be held Friday.
