Newly sworn Clay Couny top cop taking crime fighting to new heights

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Newly sworn in Clay County Sheriff Darryl Daniels  is ready to hit the ground running and combat crime in a new way. 

After a historic win during the November 2016 election, Daniels, a retired Jacksonville Sheriff's Office jails chief, plans to work closely with his former organization. 

Daniels has major initiatives planned for Clay County, including crime reduction and community engagement. Daniels will host a community walk on January 24th. 

Deputies, along with Daniels, will host several walks throughout this year to to combat crime and engage community members. Daniels will host town meetings with business, community, nonprofit and faith-based leaders.

People can join Daniels for his first community walk to combat crime. The walk is scheduled for Tuesday January 24 at 4:30 p.m. in the Tanglewood area of Orange Park. He and deputies will be walking along Jefferson Avenue and the surrounding area.
