Police: 1 injured after shooting reported in Moncrief


JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man arrived at a hospital with a gunshot wound after a shooting was reported in Moncrief Wednesday night, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

Police responded just before 6:30 p.m. to reports of a shooting into a residence at Washington Heights Apartments on Moncrief Road.

When police arrived, they discovered an apartment had been shot into, and they detained a man at the scene.

Police said they recovered a weapon at the residence, as well.

Shortly after police arrived at the apartment complex, a man turned up at UF Health with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, JSO said.

Police said no one else was injured.

Detectives continue to investigate the involvement of both the man detained at the residence and the man who was shot.
