FHP: 900 to 1,100-acre prescribed burn could limit visibility

Prescribed burn near CR 125, Osceola National Forest

BAKER COUNTY, Fla. – Drivers were warned to take precautions Saturday while traveling in the area of County Road 125 and the Osceola National Forest due to potential smoke/fog from a nearly 1,100-acre prescribed fire.

The smoke/fog may cause visibility to quickly deteriorate, especially during the night and early-morning hours.

Motorists are reminded to reduce their speed as necessary to avoid a collision and use their low-beam headlights in order to adapt to changing weather conditions.

County Road 125 is currently closed due to heavy smoke, and is expected to remain closed throughout the night. Roads in the area may be closed if smoke creates hazardous conditions.
