Teen shot in leg in Lackawanna neighborhood

17-year-old taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injury

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police are searching for the person who shot a 17-year-old in the city's Lackawanna neighborhood early Sunday morning.

The teenager was walking near Burke Street, off McDuff Avenue, about 2:30 a.m. when someone opened fire, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said. Police said they found the teen on Willow Branch Avenue, about a block away.

The teen was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury to his leg.

Police said they do not know if the gunman opened fire from a vehicle or was on foot, and said they do not have any suspect information.  

The shooting remains under investigation
