JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A woman is accused of beating her son with a belt because he didn't finish a school project on time, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

Tracey Mathis, 30, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of aggravated child abuse after police said they received an anonymous tip from the Northside Church of God on Avenue B.

According to her arrest report, the boy had bruises to his chest, back and legs and was taken to a hospital.
