Jacksonville Fire-Rescue investigating cause of blaze

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A fire at the Preserve at San Jose Apartments forced several people out of the their homes before dawn Sunday as firefighters put out the blaze.

Old Kings Road South was blocked in both directions near Baymeadows Road while Jacksonville Fire and Rescue crews battled the fire. By 7:30 a.m., traffic in the area was returning to normal.

News4Jax was told the fire started in a storage unit on the ground floor and was first noticed by a resident in the apartment above. Firefighters said they are still investigating what started the fire.

Firefighters said at least four apartments were damaged. Police said the American Red Cross would be helping out any residents displaced by the fire.
