Sheriff: Man who robbed CVS likely targeted McDonald's

Flagler County deputies ask for help identifying suspect

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Deputies are trying to identify a man seen on surveillance video leaving the scene of a robbery at a CVS Pharmacy, officials said Tuesday.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office released a photo and two sketches of the man, in hopes that someone will recognize the suspect and come forward.

Deputies are working with the St. Augustine Police Department on the case.

The CVS robbery took place about 8 p.m. Sunday, at 2703 N. Ponce DeLeon St.

The man appears to be 50 to 60 years old. He had a knife in the sleeve of his sweatshirt, deputies said.

Based on the suspect’s description and other similarities in the cases, Flagler County investigators said they are likely dealing with the same person who robbed the McDonald’s at 6030 E. State Road 100, in Palm Coast, just before 11 p.m. Saturday.

Investigators in the St. Augustine incident obtained surveillance footage from that robbery.

Flagler County deputies then worked with a witness from the McDonald’s robbery and created two composite images of the robber: one with glasses and one without.

The suspect in the incident at McDonald’s was described as a man between the ages of 50 and 60 with gray hair and a mustache, wearing a tan jacket, possibly a striped shirt and an olive green knit hat. Witnesses said the man took off in a small, red, newer-model sedan and left heading toward Interstate 95.

“This guy is someone we want to get off the street now, and put behind bars before someone gets hurt,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “If you know who he is, give our investigators a call and help us lock him up.”
