ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A 28-year-old Tampa man is accused of filing a false report and misusing 911 after St. Johns County deputies said he called 911 from a hotel room because he didn't want to go to work.

Dominique Lewis Jones was booked into the County Jail where he remains in lieu of $2,000 bond.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies responded to the Howard Johnson at SR 16/I-95 after a call came in just after 7:30 p.m. of a reported robbery.

The caller, Jones, told deputies that he was approached by a male subject as he walked out of the room and ordered to the ground, deputies said.

Jones told the deputy that his wallet was the only item taken, but he couldn’t advise a description or direction of travel for the suspect.

A Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit responded, along with detectives from the Major Crimes Unit.

Jones' wallet was found inside the room by detectives and further information revealed that Jones made the story up to get out of work, deputies said.
