FHP: Couple injured when woman loses control on U.S. 301

BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. – An elderly couple from Connecticut was seriously injured Tuesday in a crash on U.S. 301 in Bradford County.

Rosemary Reynolds, 76, and James Reynolds, 79, were taken to UF Health in Gainesville with serious injuries.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Rosemary Reynolds was driving an SUV south on U.S. 301 when for unknown reasons she crossed onto the westbound shoulder, where the SUV hit a culvert, went airborne and collided with an FPL power pole.

The SUV flipped once and landed facing north, troopers said.

The impact snapped the power pole in two.

It's possible Rosemary Reynolds had a medical emergency behind the wheel, according to Bradford County deputies.
