Man cited in wrong-way crash with semitruck in NW Jacksonville

Charlie James, 77, was 'under the influence' at time of crash, report says

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man who drove the wrong way and collided with a semitruck in northwest Jacksonville on Friday night will be cited, police said.

According to the crash report, Charlie James, 77, was driving in the wrong direction on Edgewood Avenue when he crashed into the truck.

The report lists James' condition at the time of the wreck as "under the influence of medications, drugs, or alcohol."

His passenger, who suffered serious injuries, has not been publicly identified.

Police said at this point in the investigation, James will be cited for driving the wrong way and operating a vehicle with a suspended or revoked license.
