Event honors, motivates women in business

Unstoppable Women the focus

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Pixie Larizza has been a business owner for 27 years. She knows how tough it can be and how valuable the advice of veteran business owners was for her as she was growing her business.

On March 16, Women Business Owners of North Florida will hold an event intended to help women business owners benefit from the kind of advice that Larizza found so valuable.

"We want to let people know that they aren't alone," said Pixie Larizza, event chair and past president of Women Business Owners of North Florida."

"This program, while specifically about women, is about the positive impact women have across the community," said Barbara Tolliver-Haskins, an executive coach and a past president of WBO,

Audrey Moran, the senior vice president, social responsibility and community advocacy for Baptist Health and Michelle McManamon, co-owner of Sandler Training are the keynote speakers, along with four other women who will share their stories about how they became unstoppable.

"An unstoppable woman is someone who is energized, focused, passionate, and has the ability to step over the hurdles and move forward," Tolliver-Haskins said. "In my experience, one of the things that I have learned, we don't understand out strengths. And if we're not careful, we'll focus on what we can't do, rather than what we can do."

The event is from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on March 16 at the UNF Herbert University Center. Online registration is open in advance of the event.
