Father of slain deputy seeks funds for statue

Eric Oliver killed in Yulee while pursuing undocumented worker

An example of what the statue honoring slain Nassau County Deputy Eric Oliver might look like. Oliver's father has created a gofundme account to raise money for the statue.

NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. – The father of Eric J. Oliver, the Nassau County deputy killed while chasing an undocumented worker, wants to honor his son with a statue.

Doug Oliver posted a GoFundMe page seeking to raise $32,000 for the statue, which would be located on the property of the Gate gas station in Yulee, the location where his son was helping Border Patrol agents try to capture immigrants in the country illegally in November when he was struck by a car crossing State Road 200.

The Gate station is working with the Oliver family on the statue "that will depict the love and appreciation" for Oliver.
