Man accused of attacking security guard with weapon arrested

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A man police suspect of attacking a security guard at a gated community on Sunday night faces aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and other charges.

Jake Andrew Dewerth, 19, is accused of attacking a security guard with a weapon, possibly an assault-type rifle, according to police.

The victim had obvious signs of significant trauma to his face, according to police. The suspect was located a short distance away after police set up a perimeter.
