Police arrest three in Kangaroo armed roberry

One suspects had been at large since February

LAKE BUTLER, Fla. – The Union County Sheriff's Office made three arrests in connection with an armed robbery of a Kangaroo convenience store on Feb. 12.

Two masked and armed suspects, wearing all black, help up the store and forced two clerks to the ground, according to police.

Five days after the robbery, police arrested Juan Jose Hernandez, 33. He is a career offender with and extensive and violent criminal history, police said. He was charged with six felony counts, including robbery with a firearm while wearing a mask and aggravated assault. He is in Union County Jail under a $675,000 bond.

On Feb. 26, police arrested Junita Hernandez Amieva, 40, the sister of Juan Hernandez, who police say was the diver of the getaway car. She was taken into custody by the Lee County Sheriff's Office and then charged in Union County. She was charged with robbery with a firearm, two counts each of of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment. She is in custody in Union County under a $250,000 bond.

Then, at a Ft. Myers club on Saturday night, Lee County Sheriff's officers arrested Rogelio Maldonado, 24, robbery with a firearm with a mask, two counts each of of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment. He is in Lee County jail and will be moved to Union County where he will be incarcerated under a $400,000 bond.
