Police investigate possible meth lab in Oceanway

5 adults detained for questioning, health screenings

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Five people were detained Tuesday afternoon while the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office searches a home on Starratt Road containing a suspected meth lab.

The JSO's clandestine unit served a search warrant at the home on Starratt near Dunn Creek Road about 11:45 a.m.  Lt. D.J. Valentine said detectives found materials inside that could be used to make methamphetamine and equipment that could be used to manufacture the drug.

Those inside, all adults, were held for questioning and to be medically cleared. It wasn't yet know how many could face charges connected to what was found in the home.

Valentine said that the search would proceed slowly and could take hours, but any danger was confined to the fenced property and there were no road closures or reason for anyone in the area to be concerned.
