BUNNELL, Fla. – A body found Friday near a home in Bunnell was identified as the blind and disabled resident of the property who was reported missing last month, and the medical examiner said he died of a gunshot wound.

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office was searching for 48-year-old Charles William "Butch" Singer, who was reported missing on March 23.

The body was discovered Friday by a cadaver dog from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office as the Flagler County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant.

An autopsy performed this week at the Medical Examiner’s Office in St. Augustine positively identified the body and determined the cause of death.

“We will do everything possible to bring this man’s killer or killers to justice,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “We are conducting a thorough investigation.”

This investigation is continuing. More information will be provided when it becomes available.

Anyone with information that could help in the case is asked to call the Flagler County Sheriff's Office at 386-586-4880 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida at 888-277-8477 (TIPS).
