JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 40-year-old man is charged with engaging in a scheme to defraud a Lowe's store on the Westside, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.
Ricky Chatman, who worked at the store on Lenox Avenue, was arrested Tuesday.
According to the arrest report, management contacted police after realizing he was letting certain people leave the store without paying for all of their purchases.
For instance, police said, he'd ring up one or two items at the register but allowed people to leave without paying for the other items.
Police said he later admitted he was offered money on the side by a man to allow certain people through without paying.
