JSO: Officer responding to robbery injured in Westside crash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A police officer was injured Wednesday night when he crashed into a car on the Westside while responding to a robbery, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said. 

The crash was reported just before 10:30 p.m. at Jammes Road and Wilson Boulevard.

According to JSO, the officer was on his way to a robbery call and as he drove through the intersection, the police cruiser collided with a Lexus sedan. 

The cruiser then went into bushes off the road. 

The officer was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Lexus was not hurt, police said.

Traffic homicide detectives were called to investigate, which is standard procedure.
