JSO: Man injured in Brentwood drive-by shooting

Officers hear gunshots on West 32nd Street while serving search warrant nearby

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was injured in a drive-by shooting Friday evening in the city's Brentwood neighborhood, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

The JSO Narcotics Unit was serving a search warrant just after 7:30 p.m. when officers heard shots fired on nearby West 32nd Street.

When they got to the scene, police learned that a man had been standing outside a Cadillac sedan when another car drove by and several shots were fired from inside before the car took off.

The man outside the Cadillac was shot once in the ankle and the Cadillac was hit four times, police said.

The man was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said another man was inside the Cadillac at the time of the shooting, but he was not injured.

Detectives said they also learned that there was a disturbance between a man and two women, but it's unknown whether that is related to the shooting.

The Sheriff's Office continues to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call JSO at 904-630-0500. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
