Woman airlifted from cruise ship east of Port Canaveral

Coast Guard: Passenger on board Carnival Ecstasy experienced chest pain

PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. – A 53-year-old woman was medevaced from a cruise ship about 150 miles east of Port Canaveral, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

Watchstanders were notified at 10:43 a.m. Friday by the crew of the Carnival Ecstasy that a passenger was experiencing chest pain, officials said.

A helicopter crew arrived at the scene at 2:30 p.m. Officials said the crew hoisted the passenger, along with a nurse, from the cruise ship and transported them to Halifax Memorial Hospital in Daytona Beach at 4:45 p.m.
