Fire chief: 2 employees accused of misconduct under investigation

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – The Clay County Fire Department has launched an investigation into accusations of inappropriate comments by two employees within the Clay County Public Safety Department, according to the fire chief.

The two employees were been placed on administrative leave on April 7, pending the outcome of the investigation, Clay County Fire Chief Lorin Mock said in a statement sent Tuesday to News4Jax.

"The county takes very seriously allegations of such misconduct by its employees," the statement reads, in part.

Mock said part of the investigation will work to determine when the comments were made.

He added that the investigation includes the use of external legal counsel.
