2 young children wander away from VPK school

Beaches Energy worker found kids, returned them to Beaches Chapel School

NEPTUNE BEACH, Fla. – Two young children, believed to be 4 and 5 years old, wandered away from their voluntary pre-kindergarten program at Beaches Chapel School Thursday morning.

The children were found walking near the intersection of Florida Boulevard and Penman Road -- about a half-mile away from the Neptune Beach school.

An employee of Beaches Energy stopped and corralled the children before anything could happened.

The children were wearing VPK T-shirts, making it easy to figure out where they came from, and they were returned to the school.

Beaches Chapel School sent News4Jax the following statement:

"Beaches Chapel School is currently investigating a situation involving two of our students.  All of our students are safe and secure. We are grateful to all who assisted us today. The employees that were involved are on leave pending the outcome of the investigation."
