JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville's mayor will be searching for a new chief of staff after his current one submitted a letter of resignation on Tuesday.

Kerri Stewart said she was offered an opportunity that she could not turn down and that she will be leaving City Hall on May 12.

"My time working for you at City Hall has been a period of pride for me," Stewart wrote to Mayor Lenny Curry. "I have been honored to serve as your first Chief of Staff. You have been a tremendous mentor to me during this time."

Stewart said she believes Curry is on a path to continued success after the passing of the recent pension fix.
