Beach Marine complex to house $35M community

Townhomes, restaurants, offices, dock space to be added off Intracoastal

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. – A $35 million luxury community is coming to the Beach Marine complex on the Intracoastal Waterway, just off Beach Boulevard.

The development will be called Harborside at Beach Marine and will include townhomes, restaurants, offices and dock spaces.

The waterfront landmark at the beach has been open for more than 35 years, but the project that will bring big changes is already underway and will take three to five years to complete.

The vision is for the townhome community to be located around a yacht basin with a 62-room boutique hotel.

Renderings show 40 different three-story townhomes that will sell for $600,000 to the mid-$700,000s.

But Tim Shea, who represents the owners, said the Taylor family also plans to include office space, an upgraded marina and restaurants, like one in place of the old Billy’s Boathouse.

“This has been a long time coming, and I think it is going to be a real, real plus for the beaches,” Shea said.

He said Harborside at Beach Marine will produce about 100 jobs as well.

Boaters who already use the marina don't need to worry about losing their spots during construction, but things might be rearranged a little bit, Shea said.

“It is all systems go,” he said. “We are in permitting right now, so we expect this building to start within the next 60 days.”

Shea said he hopes the majority of the project will done by 2020. By then, he said, the marina will be a go-to destination.
