COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. – A Jasper man accused of leaving the scene after striking power and cable lines in Columbia County has been taken into custody, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The incident happened around 6 p.m. Tuesday on Southeast Beadie Circle.

Troopers said a semitruck heading north on Southeast Beadie Circle struck power and cable lines, which caused a pole to break. The lines were lying across the roadway.

The driver of semitruck, identified by troopers as Rapheal Ward, 27, left the scene without leaving any of the required information, the Highway Patrol said.

Based on the investigation and working with the trucking company, Ward was found Thursday at a residence in Jasper, troopers said.

Ward was taken into custody and transported to the Columbia County Jail, troopers said.

He faces charges of leaving the scene of a traffic crash, failure to report a traffic crash and careless driving, according to the Highway Patrol.
