GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Police arrested a man accused of attacking a woman Wednesday morning as she entered the north side of City Hall, the Gainesville Police Department said.
Duan Freeman, 33, is charged with attempted sexual battery.
Police said Freeman grabbed the city employee and tried to remove her clothes as she was entering the building about 7:30 a.m.
The woman was able to fight back and scream, which drew the attention of other people in the area, and Freeman then ran away, police said.
According to the arrest report, Freeman was caught on video surveillance going into the building prior to the attack, and fingerprints were found on the door, which were able to identify him.
Investigators said the victim was able to injure her attacker, which left identifiable marks on him.
Freeman was booked into the Alachua County Jail.
