JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting in Hyde Park.
A 21-year-old man was injured in the shooting around 2:30 a.m. at the Canterbury Gardens Apartments. This is located on Lane Avenue South, in between Watergate Lane and Park Street.
They have not released the identity of this man and are interviewing witnesses for more information.
One neighbor who has lived on the Westside since 1996 said that there has been some crime in the past in the neighborhood, including a cars being broken into.
"It’s a bad area. It’s a good area actually, but what it seems to do is the tenants out here in these apartments, all of the younger crowd and the more rowdy people they’re putting them all right here in this area," said Thomas Gainey. "This is where everything goes at. Everything else around here is fine."
The shooting happened outside of the apartment. Police have not said if the victim lived at the apartment complex.
Another neighbor said that the shooting is putting her on edge.
"It's just really bad out here,' said Pat Matthew. "It's really scary, because I have to walk here everyday. I stay right in front of that apartment."
The man has life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital.
