Police: Young man in car shot in NW Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A young man was a passenger in a car when he was shot Wednesday night in Northwest Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The shooting was reported about 7:30 p.m. near West Moncrief Road and Soutel Drive.

The man, who was described as being in his late teens or early 20s, suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower back, police said. 

The driver of the car then took the man to UF Health. 

Police said they were unable to find the crime scene, and there was no description of the shooter.

Detectives continue to investigate.
