Atlantic Beach picks new police chief
JSO director of patrol and enforcement to take Atlantic Beach top job
ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. – The city of Atlantic Beach has chosen the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office's director of patrol and enforcement to be its new police chief.
Michelle Cook will become the new Atlantic Beach police chief after she retires from the JSO, according to interim city manager Kevin Hogencamp.
Cook entered the law enforcement profession as a patrol officer in 1992 upon graduation from college, according to her resume. She has a Masters in criminal justice.
With two promotions and three appointments to the staff, Cook will retire as a three-star director and third in command from the JSO, according to her resume.
The police chief confirmation will take place at the June 12 Atlantic Beach board meeting.
