PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. – A dozen people were arrested and significant drug seizures were made in a Stokes Landing Road-area operation, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said.
The Sheriff's Office conducted a data-driven policing analysis in January to determine locations in the county where citizens were complaining about drug activity, deputies said.
The analysis revealed the Stokes Landing Road area was a location of abnormally high complaints about drug activity and reckless driving. The Sheriff's Office said it began a data-driven enforcement initiative in the area as a result.
The initiative has resulted in 12 people being charged with various crimes, including trafficking in methamphetamine, manufacture of methamphetamine, possession of controlled substances and felony driving on a suspended license, the Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies said 161 grams of methamphetamine, narcotic medications and numerous items of drug paraphernalia were also seized as a result of the initiative.
"With the state-of-the-art technology and policing methods recently implemented by the Sheriff's Office, there is no place to hide," Sheriff DeLoach said. "We are able to track areas of concern and we will continue to promptly and vigorously address those areas."
The Sheriff's Office said the initiative is ongoing.
