FHP investigates crash on I-295 that left man, woman injured

Unidentified driver uninjured, FHP says

DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that left a woman seriously injured and a man with critical injuries.

Troopers said the driver of a Dodge Grand Caravan was headed south on I-295 near the Trout River Boulevard overpass around 11:22 a.m. Tuesday when for an unknown reason left the road, struck a light pole and the van overturned.

A male passenger, Mikell W. Davis, 40, of Yulee, was taken to UF Health with critical injuries.

A female passenger, Shelley M. Davis, 39, of Yulee, was taken to UF Health with serious injuries.

FHP said the driver of the van, who was not identified, was not injured in the crash.

The investigation remains open.
