House, Senate set special session schedules

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – House and Senate committees will meet Wednesday afternoon as lawmakers try to move quickly in a three-day special session called to take up economic-development and education funding issues.

The full House will convene at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, followed by the Senate convening at 1 p.m., according to calendars posted online Monday.

The House Appropriations Committee will meet at 2 p.m., taking up an economic development bill (HB 1A), filed by Rep. Paul Renner, R-Palm Coast, and an education bill (HB 3A), filed by Rep. Manny Diaz Jr., R-Hialeah.

Meanwhile, the Senate Commerce and Tourism Committee will meet at 2 p.m., followed by the Senate Appropriations Committee at 4 p.m. Senate bills had not been posted online as of early Monday evening.

The Senate Appropriations Committee is scheduled to meet again at 10 a.m. Thursday, followed by a Senate floor session at 2 p.m.

The House will hold a floor session at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

On Friday, the Senate will hold a floor session at 10 a.m., while the House will hold a floor session at 10:30 a.m. The special session is scheduled to end Friday.
