Flagler County K-9 has new name

'Valor' chosen from over 2,000 submissions

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – The newest four-legged addition to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office has a new name.

Over 2,000 entries flooded into the office to name a 14-month old Belgian Malinois/Shepherd mix and the name selected is Valor.

Valor, who is partnered with Deputy Jonathon Duenas, will begin a 480-hour FDLE K-9 Team training course on Friday.

Other popular submissions included Justice, Knight, Summit, Flag, Ponce and Max.

"Valor seems like a perfect name to me," Duenas said.

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly said that he's looking forward to seeing Valor get to work.

"After graduation, Valor will be ready to help take a bite out of crime," Staly said.
