Teens rescued off Florida Keys after canoe overturns

MARATHON, Fla. – Three teens were rescued Saturday evening after their canoe overturned near Marathon in the Florida Keys, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office said.

Marine Deputy Wilfredo Guerra spotted the trio floating in the water about 5:30 p.m. on the bayside of Marathon offshore of the airport area, the sheriff's office said.

All of the teenagers were wearing life jackets when the canoe capsized.

Guerra, who was on routine patrol on a Waverunner, helped them -- and their canoe -- back to shore safely.
