GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Two people are facing multiple charges Thursday after being pulled over while driving a stolen vehicle, the Gainesville Police Department said.

According to police, an officer ran the tag on a suspicious vehicle and found it to be stolen out of Alabama. The traffic stop revealed the vehicle itself was stolen, too, police said.

The driver, Joseph Zoller, 41, was wanted in South Carolina for failing to register as a sex offender, police said

Police found gabapentin pills on the passenger, Jacklyn McMains, 35, officials said. Gabapentin is a drug that is often prescribed as an alternative to opioid pain medication.

Zoller faces charges of driving on a suspended or revoked license with knowledge, warrant arrest and recovered stolen automobile or tag, police said.

McMains faces a narcotics violation charge.
