Gunwielding man robs BB&T bank in Mandarin, police say

Jacksonville police release a surveillance photo of the man who held up the BB&T Bank in Mandarin.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man armed with a gun robbed the BB&T bank Friday morning on San Jose Boulevard in Mandarin, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police said the man pulled up his shirt and revealed a black semiautomatic weapon in his waistband before demanding money from the three tellers on duty. The man was given an undisclosed amount of cash and ran from the bank.

No injuries were reported.

Police said the robber is described as a black man in his 40s-50s, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing 170 to 180 pounds. He was wearing a dark hat and a blue New York Yankees jacket.

Police released surveillance images of the robber. They said he may resemble the man who robbed three other Jacksonville banks over the past several weeks.

This was the sixth bank robbery in 2017 and the fourth in the last month.
