Man throws dog down stairs, tosses it onto balcony, police say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Satsuma man is behind bars, accused of throwing a dog down the stairs of an apartment building Tuesday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Colton Jones was arrested around 2:30 a.m. after someone called police to the Aqua Apartments in Southside Boulevard.

A witness said she heard the sounds of an animal yelping and screaming coming from an apartment. She said she then saw Jones throw a dog down the stairs, pick it up by its front legs and toss it onto the balcony.

Jones is charged with cruelty to animals.
